On my way back to the Eugene airport, I drove through Mapleton. The city ts located about 15 miles up the Siuslaw River from Florence, at the head of the river’s tidewater. I have read that Mapleton got its name for its many big-leaf maples. It is a popular place during the salmon and steelhead runs. The water looked like glass so I took this photo.
