Over the years I’ve spent an enormous amount of time trying to photograph the diving terns. I can never seem to get a shot I like, as they fly so fast. Even the phoebe stopped feeding to watch the terns.

Survival of the fittest… or the luckiest
I had the day off so I spent some time watching the lagoon activity. It’s the same every year. The bully drakes chase the new mother hens which forces them to fly away leaving their young to fend for themselves. This noisy activity is like a lunch call to the night herons.
Duck Drama
Blondie introduced her brood to the lagoon this morning. She started out with 12 and by Sunday there were 9.
Oh Deer
Had a call in Livermore today and as usual there is the always present wildlife. Sandy thinks she’s pregnant.
1st Family
Today we got a glimpse at the first ducky family of 2019. Unfortunately they were all eaten within 24hrs which is common for new mother’s. Update: I was mistaken as of last weekend (5/5) there are 4 adolescent ducks. Once they get out of that bite size stage they are usually safe.
Looking for love
It’s that time of the year again, mating season. That means we’re seeing ducks in all the wrong places.
Hummer with a compact
We were to out gardening and Humphrey the hummer came by for meal. I just happen to have my RX100VI in my pocket… ok I ran in the house to get it. Upon inspection I see that it is misfocused, but a nice moment nonetheless.
Bay Bridge Nightshot II
Tonight I hit the Bay Bridge again to get a different perspective. Unfortunately I got distracted by that Racoony that kept sneaking up behind me.
Heron Dance
Saw a heron this morning so I thought I would shoot em while testing my Sony 70-300mm.
Nankeen Night Heron
