Eagles ghosted me

Since I was lucky enough to spot the Eagles yesterday I knew I wouldn’t see them today. They were uncooperative models. You get what you paid for I guess.

Eagle Scout

During happy hour last night Jenny gave me an idea of where to photograph the Alameda Bald Eagles. These photos aren’t that great, but I can see how this can become an obsession with me.

Great Blue Heron sunning

Saw the local great blue heron this morning on our walk. It was holding it’s wings in an unusual posture. I hope it’s just trying to absorb the sun rather than an injury.

Blue Angels 2022

Tried a different spot this year with mixed results. I said this last year, wait 1.5 hrs for 5 seconds of action. Sunday I got really lazy and shot this out of focus shot from my driveway.

Oakland Zoo 2022

We haven’t been there since 2009 so what better time to go than now. The usual obstacles, fences, bad light and sleepy models. Not to mention squirrels & crows that think part of the zoo experience. Map courtesy of the Oakland Zoo.

Duckie Prequel

We have a duck that has decided our backyard is the best place for a nest sight. We are waiting patiently for the hatching ceremony (approx 28 days). Oddly a crow has decided to harass it. She lays on her eggs for days at a time while her mate waits bored out of his mind. …

Scratch that itch

One of the hummers allowed me to get close enough to shoot these.

Rockin Robin

While eating dinner we kept seeing this Robin running back and forth. It turns out she is making a nest in our Bougainvillea plant. I may have to install a Robin Cam. The following morning I spotted this… I suspect the squirrel is using the eggs to make french omelettes.
