Something that I believe is unique to the Philippine culture is the Balikbayan Box. Balik means returning, Bayan means home. For the most part they are universal in size 24 x 24 x 24. They are filled with precious goodies from the US to bring back home to friends and family. Courier services will deliver Balikbayan …

Weekend Pass
Ah, it was a quick visit for Mommie. Today we had a leisurely Pilipino breakfast of fried eggs, rice and smoked Trout. After some last minute shopping to fill her Balikbayan Box (more on this later) we had dinner at Il Fornaio in Burlingame. Then it was off to the SFO to bid her goodbye.
Mommie is here
Sandy just picked up Mommie from SFO and true to form we have our priorities straight… we got take out from Popeye’s.
Pacific Grove
Had a little work in Monterey today. Afterwards I made a quick drive out to Pacific Grove… I think I’ll have to bring Sandy next time. Perhaps a weekend date?
Blooming
Shot this with the G10 this morning, I’m quite happy with my new compact camera.
Lake Tulloch
Had some business in Sonora and on the way back I took a detour to Lake Tulloch. Because of the time of day I couldn’t get a good shot of the lake.

Champagne Room
While in Phoenix at the gas station filling up my rental car I came across a large number of men’s club ads. It reminded me of Vegas where it’s just openly flaunted out in the street. Of course I had to pick up a couple, just for the blog you know.
Oakland Airport
Had to go to Phoenix today for quickie. I’ve always admired the wide southern view of the bay from terminal 3. Of course the 3D going to 2d… it doesn’t look all that impressive on the blog.
Dean Lesher
I found out that Jon was playing in Walnut Creek on the night before the show and he was nice enough to get us tickets. For the opening act, a pair of ex-Cirque du Soleil handstand acrobats performed as the orchestra played. It was quite impressive. Of course it goes without saying, it’s hard to outdo Jon.
