Northern California Ukulele Festival 2011

I haven’t been to a N. Cal Uke Fest in years. Saw a lot of familiar faces & reconnected with some old friends.  I was turned away at the door as I was carrying my camera (no cameras allowed). Needless to say I didn’t take any pix.

Jon In San Mateo

This Friday turned into a date night as we had tickets to see Jon play at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. Of course we had to eat before the show, Patio Filipino to the rescue.  Chicharon Bulaklak, Lengua Champignon, Sizzling Pork Sisig & Bulalo Soup. While consuming pigs head, intestines & beef tongue doesn’t …

Norah Jones

Tonight we had the privilege of watching Norah Jones at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. This was the first time we’ve been to the Greek, damn is my butt hurting…wait I meant it was because of the concrete seating. Probably the most uncomfortable venue I’ve ever been to. We got there early and had enough …

Free Concert

Tonight we spent our evening at San Jose State University enjoying a free concert on the lawn. It’s rare that photography is allowed at the concerts and I’ve been trying to get a photo of Jon playing the piano. Never have I captured the intensity of the moment. I’ll keep trying it’s only been 12 …

Life is Good

Last night we made the trek to Yoshi’s in the city. We had dinner and then attended Jon’s performance. While the food was okay the music was incredible, even though it wasn’t jazz! I can’t help but feel lucky to have good friends, family and a cousin that kicks butt on the piano. Jon opens …

Friday Night Concert

Last night we headed on down to HP Pavilion in San Jose to see the Eagles. I haven’t seen them since 1996. We picked up Kathy and had dinner at Taqueria Tlaquepaque. I ate too much so the girls rolled me out and threw me in the trunk. The next thing I remember we were …

Jon Jon

Last night we ventured into Livermore to see Jon & Jon perform at the Bankhead. It was quite entertaining to watch the contrast of the two Jon’s. Prior to the performance we ate dinner at Uncle Yu’s. When we got home I started to scan the material for the blog. That’s when I noticed the …

Jake

Last night we had the pleasure of seeing Jake Shimabukuro live at the Davies Symphony Hall. I picked up Sandy and we had a quick bite at Stelline. I had the cannelloni & Sandy had the chicken. Davies is a stunning hall which made the concert experience even more thrilling. I can’t say enough about …

Dean Lesher

I found out that Jon was playing in Walnut Creek on the night before the show and he was nice enough to get us tickets. For the opening act, a pair of ex-Cirque du Soleil handstand acrobats performed as the orchestra played. It was quite impressive. Of course it goes without saying, it’s hard to outdo Jon.
