Grandma Maeda

While she passed away back in November we finally put Grandma Maeda to rest. She made it to 102, which is incredible these days. Sadly it was probably the last time we will all get together. I did not feel right taking photos at the funeral, as it just feels too morbid. Afterwards we put …

Pork & Portraits

We met up with Jon & Kathy to talk about a New York trip. Jon suggested Naschmarkt Restaurant. We never had Austrian food before so we jumped at the chance. Needless to say the Pork Belly was so damn good. I did have to take 6 Lipitors on the way back to the car though. …

Elizabeth Spencer Wines

During my annual PBS pledge drive I happen to receive a gift certificate for Elizabeth Spencer Wines. Well today we decided to redeem it and what better couple to take with us than Paul & Brenda. We walked out of there with a nice cab and then shuttled over to Long Meadow Ranch for lunch.

6963 mile Lengua Throwdown

When I taste something good, I try to recreate it while adding my own touch. Mommi’s lengua is one of those dishes. Now while Mommi was not here we thawed a portion from the freezer. I topped mine with 3 types of mushrooms. In fairness I should wait til her next visit for the actual throwdown.

Tawny is in town

Good news Tawny is in town for the SF Marathon on Sunday (½ marathon). She arrived with macaroons in hand! Saturday we took the bus into the city to pick up her bib and check out the farmers market at the Ferry Building. Then we drove to Napa for lunch at Morimoto’s. In the evening Geo landed on a …

Spring Fest 2013

We went downtown to check out the Spring Fest. Going there hungry was a bad idea. We ate 3 plates of Indian food. The veggie samosa was excellent. Got so stuffed I couldn’t even eat a giant corn dog. I hate it when that happens!

Cherry Blossom Festival 2013

Today we decided to visit the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japantown to experience all things Japanese. So we watched the Chinese Wushu demo & ate Korean food.
