Tonight’s secret ingredient… left over asparagus risotto. Threw on a rack of lamb in the iron skillet, dinner for Sandy.
Scrabble Stairmaster
With the advent of the eye-pad, we’ve been spending our nights challenging ourselves with various games. This exercises our minds but neglects the body. So today, we invented Scrabble Stairmaster. We simply start a “pass n play” scrabble match. Sandy is downstairs and I am upstairs. When you finish your word you have to transverse the stairs to pass the eye-pad to your opponent. Now my cerebral cortex and my rectus femoris hurt.
Dog Days of Summer
Today we checked out dog days of summer part one at Jack London Square in Oakland. It was a small turn out, most were very well behaved but a few… Anyway the sun was out and it was very hot, I felt sorry for the dogs in the costumes.
Human Race
Sorry I took these photos last weekend and forgot about them. Apparently there was a race here in Alameda right on the shoreline. Vinny & his brother were there just in case anybody dropped off.
Eye-Pad review
I’ve had my eye-pad for a month now and I thought I would share my feelings.
Things I like:
Battery life – It’s advertised as a 10 hour battery. While I haven’t performed a timed test I’ve been pleased with the battery life.
Graphics – Love the graphics display especially for showing photos.
Speed – The 1GHz A4 is peppy enough for my needs. I’m not a gamer and never played games on my home PC, but I have to admit I been toying with some since I got my eye-pad.
Instant on – This is the best feature. I use it to instantly check my email. If I could rid of my laptop I would, it seems to take forever to boot and check email and it weighs a ton compared to my eye-pad.
Data plan – You can sign up and change your data plan very easily on the eye-pad, right from the settings tab.
Things I don’t like:
I use more data than I planned, which is not the eye-pad’s fault. The 250MB a month for $14.99 went by way too quick and I had to upgrade to the $29.99 unlimited plan.
iTunes is problematic with regard to syncing… well at least on my PC. My music/data is on a external 2TB Drobo drive which could be the reason.
While I love the touchscreen interface the finger smudges are distracting especially when viewing the aforementioned photos.
I have to fight Sandy to use it… share dear!
It’s a bit pricey but I did get the top of the line model.
Since I don’t see very many eye-pads its an attention magnet and I hold on to it tightly. I’m reluctant to hand it over when people ask about it.
Breakfast
This morning we had the traditional breakfast of my people…spam, rice & eggs.
Blogaversary
This month I celebrate the 3 year anniversary of my blog. I still haven’t been able to move beyond the silly stuff we do and stupid duck humor.
Birthday 2010
Today I honored Sandy’s birthday by going to LaPinata for brunch. The birthday gurl had corned beef hash (at a Mexican restaurant?) and a Mexican hot chocolate, I had the chorizo burrito. I’ve been belching it up all day.
Broken Tomato
Today in moderate wind I watched as my upsidedown tomato thingie broke off at the main stem and fell to the ground. I’ll never be able to eat a salad without thinking of what could have been. Son of a biscuit!
Neighbors II
Tonight we had Paul & Brenda over for dinner as Sandy had some church business to tend to with them. We served our standard grilled chicken and Paul brought over his smoked salmon, oh it was so good.
Judy just got a plain corn tosada shell, no salt…wimp
