Just to prove you don’t need a big DSLR camera to capture fireworks. Here’s a few from Sandy shot with her compact SD880IS propped up on her knee.

I made it through those long 12 hour work days in the muggy heat. As usual I didn’t have the energy to go out and about. I did manage to get a Kala Thinbody Tenor at the hotel thanks to a vendor, sorry Hun.
No BJ Penn Shirts in Blk M Aleki, sorry.
Here’s some random photos.

I know it sounds glamorous but Honolulu is a lot work in a short period of time. It’s hot, humid, full of tourists, everything is expensive and all the hospitals are located on military installations, which is a pain to gain entry.
Oh and the food, nothing to eat but fresh fish, smooth Kona coffee and Kalua Pork. Ill be suffering and doing my best to conceal it.

It was too hot to do anything today. Not wanting to heat up the kitchen we had lunch at Bowzer’s Pizza here in Alameda. The Underdog was great.

As she has every day of this trip, the princess slept in today. But it’s okay, it’s her birthweek. After breakfast, we enjoyed one last dip in the jacuzzi and then started on our way back home, but not before stopping at the Arts & Crafts Fair to drop a few dollars and help the local economy. Next we visited Gloria Ferrer for some champagne tasting. The champagne paired well with the chocolate truffles from yesterday. Ah, this was a good weekend.

Today was a slow relaxing day. Sandy slept in then we enjoyed our free breakfast at the hotel. Next we took a drive up Hwy 12 to Santa Rosa stopping off at St Francis and then Ledson Winery where we had a nice lunch. With full bellies we continued our drive and ended up in Glen Ellen where we were treated to the sight of deer and flying wild turkey. One would think Sonoma is all about wine tasting. We also enjoyed olive oil tasting, balsamic vinegar tasting and chocolate tasting.
After a short dip in the jacuzzi, we went downtown and had a great dinner at the girl and the fig. Sandy had duck confit, I had the rabbit roulade. We finished with a cheesecake parfait, profiteroles and a wellington port.

We drove up to Sonoma and checked in at the El Pueblo Inn. After a short nap we strolled the downtown area. For dinner, we ate at LaSalette. We started out with an appetizer plate of smoked duck, blood sausage & Spanish ham. For entrees, the birthday gurl had paella and I had flank steak.

This year we decided to take some time off to celebrate Sandy’s Birthday. It started out at Bip’s for breakfast where Sandy got the massive princess meal.

Next we drove up to Sonoma. More on that later…
I came home today to find the living room in shambles. Apparently two ducks, one male and one female, conned Sandy into opening the front door by staging a package delivery. As soon as Sandy opened the door to pick up the box, they made their way in to steal the jar of duck food we keep in the kitchen. Alameda CSI was called and they dusted for web prints. If anyone has any information about this crime, please call 1-800-GET-DUCK, so we can rest in peace.

I’ve kept it up for two years now! Uh my blog that is… I’m still writing about my simple life and all the wonderful friends and family that surround me. Special thanks to Jim for hosting and all the IT help.
