I was so impressed with the Shangri-la, I asked to stay there on our next visit to the Philippines.
Last night’s party was the culmination of months of work. The 50th Wedding Anniversary/Daddy Birthday Party was a smash. I have to admit it was thrilling to be in the company of Her Excellency, President Gloria Arroyo.
My sincere apologies to my family for chickening out on the dance number. Based on my performance during our one rehearsal, I decided it would best to sit it out due to my physical retardation.
Having the Makati Shangri-la as a venue was definitely a perk. That was by far the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
Tonight In a private ceremony Daddy & Mommy renewed their vows.
After the ceremony we fought Manila traffic and went to Podium at the Ortigas Center for a great Chinese dinner. Later Daddy took Tante and myself for desert and coffee at UCC. Daddy claims they make the best coffee in the world! BTW they use a vacuum syphon brewing technique, but they also would not allow me to photograph it.
Today Sid, Rhea, Maxie & Bengie arrived from San Diego, this made Ysa very happy. Nothing special about today just goofing around family style.
I almost forgot to mention last night Sandy had another reunion with a different batch of classmates.
Yesterday we went and picked up my new clothes. As I mentioned earlier the Philippine suits just fit us smaller guys better. Sandy wants to go on a date now, Woo Hoo!
Today after a big breakfast we went to the Greenhills Mall. The flea market atmosphere was something to behold. Rows upon rows of vendors selling just about any and everything.
Now the important stuff. We had a wonderful lunch at Gerry’s Grill. I’m told there is one in Fremont. I definitely want to visit that one. We had Grilled Blue Marlin, Crispy Squidheads, Crispy Pata, Veggies, Crab Rice & freshly fried Chicharron.
Sandy also got a nice haircut at her Uncle’s salon while Ysa played with her camera and took a very cool self portrait.
While I don’t get too vulgar, whenever Sandy gets together with a group of friends there is this phenomenon of Filipina Energy that starts the instant they see one another and turns into a loud, screaming, jumping, emotion being I like to call it a Vortex of P… Energy and when it peaks, its a photographers paradise.
Tonight Sandy had a small reunion with her classmates from years gone by, needless to say it was a VoPE. Unfortunately they were a bit camera shy.
Of course the Filipino stray cat strut is always close by when food is present.
I’ve been having trouble with the heat over here. When it rains, as it has everyday, I love to stand out in the middle of the down pour. It’s the fastest way to cool down.
Sandy ran into the local mailman on his delivery run today.
