The life and times of a true knucklehead – No photos to be used without permission
Lombard Street
Rather than treat this as another day off and grill a big steak for dinner, I thought I’d go to the Memorial Day service here at Bay Farm Island to remember those who gave their lives for our country.
Then we went to our neighbor’s house for a steak dinner.
I’ve been trying to get up to Crater Lake for years ever since I saw it through an airplane window on a flight to Oregon. On the day I finally get to go, the weather is miserable.
I have to go back when the weather is better. Perhaps during a sunrise.

I filled up in Sonora California today right after work.
This year, we wanted to do something special for the Moms, so Sandy and I planned a five-course meal for lunch. Then Jimi got involved and kicked it up a notch … or should I say 6 notches. The menu became very complex! I had visions of Hell’s Kitchen. It took days to prepare for the event. Happily everything came together without any blood being drawn. Thanks to everyone who pitched in: the cooks, servers, platers, dishwashers, photographers and of course, the Moms.
Wow we have enough leftovers for the rest of the week!
By the way, happy birthday Cait!
Think I’ll start a random photo posting every week.
I’m often asked what camera to buy…to which I usually reply, I don’t know! I don’t walk around with a digital camera encyclopedia in my pocket.
Any decent camera will take good photos. You have to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the camera and work around/with them.
Here are some shots from my 1st digital camera, a Toshiba PDR-M5 2.1MP from 2000. Now that was a bad camera. The autofocus was terrible, the exposure equally as bad. Certainly by today’s standards the technical quality leaves a bit to be desired. But these are decent photos.
My point is it’s not the camera that makes the difference. It’s learning the principles of light. Photo = Light, Graph = Recording. Photography is the recording of light.
BTW I have a lot to learn yet.
Today during lunch I spent a few minutes at the Legion of Honor.
