The life and times of a true knucklehead – No photos to be used without permission
On my way home from work in Gualala I stopped at the Ocean Grove Campground to shoot a few photos.
This year we celebrated Easter at The Oyar’s house. So many kids creating chaos…and Cait has another one on the way, it’s a girl!
I saw on the news there is a pair of nesting bald eagles in Milpitas. I spent 4 hrs waiting for something exciting to happen. Other than a small hawk chasing the male it was boring and uneventful.
The Yuen’s took me to checkout the new place… Itani Ramen. I have to admit it was pretty good. I’m headed back to try the Duck Ramen.
Yesterday we took a trip to Guerneville then to the coast to grab a quick shot at Rock Point Beach.
On my way home from work I stopped at Stump Beach at Salt Point State Park.
My variable ND filter fiasco lead me to try a Fotodiox Sony adapter. Now I can use any of my Canon lenses on my Sony which is cool but more importantly it has a built in variable ND filter.
A week ago I made an attempt to go to Alamere Falls but I wasn’t quite prepared and I took the wrong trail and ended up coming back without any photos. This time I returned with Sandy and we took the proper route. It was a long haul (13mi round trip) full of flora & small critters.
Using the Fotodiox adapter was challenging as the auto focus did not work so I had to manually focus in bright sunlight on a LCD screen.
I was using a new Sony A6500 and like a dumbass I neglected to set it to raw capture, so my post processing was limited.
The tide was too high to get a good angle on the lower falls, which meant I ran out in between waves to get a mediocre shot.
Had the day off so I drove up the coast to shoot some photos. I wanted to capture the misty motion blur so I brought a variable ND filter. The only problem is that it gives a strange color cast in the corners of every shot. So as I usually do (cause I’m lazy) I converted them to black & white in an attempt to mask these color issues, but even those looked bad… so I replaced the sky.
Tonight we celebrated Gavin’s 1st birthday at Hong Fu in Cupertino. The food was great and Gavin got a lot of attention. I shot these with my M5 and tried a Magmod Bounce for the first time rather than pointing my flash backward & upward. The results were mixed, as I got a few nasty reflection in the eyeglasses.
Kathy needed some photos for Gavin’s Party so we trekked over and made an attempt to shoot em. He’s was very squirmy wormy that day so it was a challenge.
