The life and times of a true knucklehead – No photos to be used without permission
It always irritated me having to work on Veteran’s Day, so this year I took the day off. I started off at Golden Gate Cemetery.
I only shot a few at the Presido Cemetery.
I’ve wanted to recreate this photograph from the 60s for a long time. Well since we were all together for Aunty Elaine’s memorial now was the time. Of course no chance my brothers would be there so we had John, Marc & Chimby stand in.
This year Noah & Nico went with a Star Wars theme. I was happy to shoot this… well actually it was quite a bit of work. Because it is difficult to predict these kids movement I choose to shoot them individually and composite them into a scene. Of course right in the middle of the shoot Nico decides to remove his head piece. I had no confidence I could produce anything usable while we were shooting.
3 composites for Koa, just 2 for Noah and 3 for Nico. Total time including driving 4.5 hrs. In the end I just choose a simple black background, instead of photographing a forest background like I planned. Yes I got lazy.
This evening I visited the Palace of Fine Arts. I saw several photoshoots while I was there and was quite shocked to see most of the photographers were not using strobes.
I just love photographing the carnival lights.
Random stuff from today…
Had to work in the area so I took my camera. Traffic was horrible and I didn’t stay to see the Blue Angels.
Killed 3 spiders in my house last night. They look like small brown thingies but when you photograph them all these detail come alive.
Unfortunately this 32 image stack is problematic. The depth of field is so small (hence the 32 images) the out of focus areas appear very large. This can be seen if you zoom in, a halo of fuzziness is visible. Mmmm gonna have to look into better stacking software.
Happens every Monday morning. The crows go dumpster diving.
