The life and times of a true knucklehead – No photos to be used without permission
Been wanting to come here for quite awhile, so after my Canon Macro class (right across the street) we had a lovely dinner.
Next week Saturday I will be attending a Canon Live class on macro photography. How appropriate that today I would come across a dragonfly in the backyard. I shot em with natural & artificial light.
Caught this huge fly fornicating on my guava tree so I caught em and shot em.
MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro with a MT-24EX flash.
This year’s reunion was here in San Francisco. Friday night was the dinner party at the Hilton by SFO.
The family was so big I had to shoot a 2 photo pano. I had forgotten to bring an omnidirectional light modifier and only had a softbox. No stress there.
Saturday was the picnic at Frontierland in Pacifica.
Our neighbors Paul & Brenda were gracious enough to invite us to their cabin at June Lake this past weekend.
Sunday was church day in Lee Vining.
While the others were at church, I shot some beat up old houses nearby.
Then it was on to Mono Lake. A very unusual place. Highly recommended, just go there when the light is good.
Back to the cabin for happy hour.
They call this the Jesus rock (above). Can you see the profile?
We also took a very relaxing trip on rafts into June Lake. I almost died as I tried to jump into the raft and went face 1st into the 3 ft deep stream. What do friends do when you have a life threatening experience, point & laugh or grab a photo? They did both.
We stopped by Yosemite on the way back home. 1st stop Tuolumne Meadows.
After a lovely lunch we headed up to Olmstead Point. We had a wonderful weekend.
Shot em with my Sony.
Found this spider playing in our shower. I have no idea the species but I figured I should shoot em.
Tonight we met Jim & Kelly at Ozumo in Oakland for the Japanese Beer month dinner. 6 courses and they were all wonderful. The dessert/beer combo was the big surprise.
Just as we were headed out the door for our evening walk Sandy quickly ran back in… I stuck my head out and saw a baby skunkbutt.
I knew the trails it traveled so just stood there with my camera knowing it didn’t have any other way to get to the backyard. The risk paid off as I got the shots.
This year for Sandy’s Birthday we drove down to Big Sur. 1st stop McWay Falls, a very iconic spot but without beach access you can only shoot it from so many angles.
It’s a shame not to use this jacuzzi tub, but both of us were thinking about how much water it would use.
For Saturday lunch I got reservations at the Sierra Mar Restaurant. The food was amazing!
