The life and times of a true knucklehead – No photos to be used without permission
Had Ben & Paulette over yesterday for breakfast. We served sisig silog & pancakes. I shot a few portraits of them.
This morning we met up with Teddy & Christine to have breakfast at Brown Sugar Kitchen in Oakland. We just had to try the chicken & waffles.
Had the in-laws over this year and had a great time. Sandy made an incredible corn bread, her famous curried cashew salad, cranberry sauce, oven roasted squash & a double layer pumpkin cheesecake. I did a flat bread pizza appetizer, a parsnip puree and deep fried a turkey and didn’t take a single picture of the food! What a photographer I am.
I was able to get together with family last Friday for a little holiday lunch. I haven’t seen Jon in what seem like 2o years! I chose Bocanova as I’ve walked by a few times and always wanted to try ’em. The food was excellent as was the company. I have to bring Sandy there.
After a huge Thanksgiving meal I asked for a portrait sitting and this is what I got.
The Canon EOS M was a long time in coming. I have such a problem with the weight of my big cameras. It’s been back ordered since July & I’ve been chomping at the bit for this one. I’m hoping that I can use this as a mini portrait machine. It’ll take all my Canon lenses (with an EF lens adapter) and can control all of my speedlites both optically and and radio waves. Meanwhile I’ve been testing it for the past few days. I do like the shallow depth of field I can achieve on this.
Yesterday we were invited to Daniel & Alicia’s Birthday at John’s Incredible Pizza in Roseville. It was a sensory overload. I can understand why all the kids were so excited.
Later we went to Lincoln Estates Park for some portraits.
I learned a lot as I usually do on every one of these shoots. I have an appointment for a vasectomy next week, just joking! I had to keep lowering my shutter speed to bring the background in but the motion blur was killing me. Tripod next time!
Our schedules were not in sync for Halloween so I asked the Yuens to bring Noah out tonight to the local beach. I figured that would be the perfect place to capture a photo of the famed Alameda Baby Teal Octopus. In keeping up with the sea theme they bought me dinner at Angel Fish, thanks guys.
iPad mini arrived today. This is mainly for Sandy to read her books as her phone is too small, but I plan on using it as a photo viewer on my photoshoots as my LCD screen on the back of my camera is too small. It will hook up via my EyeFi card on my mark III so I can get my photos as close to real time as possible. Why don’t I do this with my iPad 3? I’m outta storage space that’s why! Shoulda bought the 64gb, doh!
I saw this a while back, so this time I made sure I was on the right side of the road and stopped to shoot a photo. I’d like to know the history of this tree. Just found out that this is the 2nd tree. Some vandals it cut down the original, sad.
