Had to go to Phoenix today for quickie.
I’ve always admired the wide southern view of the bay from terminal 3. Of course the 3D going to 2d… it doesn’t look all that impressive on the blog.

Had to go to Phoenix today for quickie.

I found out that Jon was playing in Walnut Creek on the night before the show and he was nice enough to get us tickets. For the opening act, a pair of ex-Cirque du Soleil handstand acrobats performed as the orchestra played. It was quite impressive.
Of course it goes without saying, it’s hard to outdo Jon.
I had an emergency job in Honolulu. On top of that I to do it over the weekend and I couldn’t bring Sandy. I did manage to get some shots of the local kids having a good time at the beach.
Before heading out to the airport I made a quick trip out to Hanauma Bay to grab a few shots.
The ducks are always entertaining. This morning I fed them and as usual there were all these duck fights. This is so funny for me because while the larger ducks fight for dominance, the younger ducks don’t care and just eat all the food.
In this featherweight match Harold and Denny square off. They get in a clench. Harold gets in a underhook which allows him to take Denny down and gets in side control. Denny tries to cinch up a Kimura, but Harold is too wise for that and he applies a beak lock on Denny til he taps out.
Sandy tells me I watch too much UFC….
Tonight we had another Fridate in the city. Sandy brought me to the Cosmopolitan Cafe, where we enjoyed a Ahi & Salmon Tartare appetizer & cocktails.
For our entrees, Sandy ordered the pan seared Yellow Fin Tuna while I munched on the Sturgeon special. The shared desert was the Banana Pecan Galette.
With full bellies we ran back to catch the 7:30 ferry back to Alameda. Ah life is good!
I wanted to get rid of my G7 in favor of the upgraded G9, so I got a used one on Ebay. A week later Canon announced the G10, Doh!
Here’s one of my 1st shots with the G9 with our always grouchy model Judy (I don’t pay her OT).
Not wanting to waste the frying oil from Labor Day weekend. We’ve been frying some more. Today I fried two Turkey Thighs and a couple of Cornish Game Hens for dinner while the Princess relaxed.
Now if I ever catch those ground squirrels that been digging in my yard, why I’ll…
Yesterday we flew down to San Diego to take part in Sid’s 40th Birthday. We also found out that he is the 2008 Alhambra United Golf Club Champion. It’s the most prestigious golf tournament in the San Diego area for high level amateurs.
Today I had a quick job to do at the VA Medical Center in San Francisco. So afterwards I figured I’d go and shoot some photos of the Golden Gate Bridge from the southwest side. I drove along the coast til I found a trail that headed down to Marshall Beach. It was a hazy day so I didn’t expect much.
I think the turning point was when I saw the naked guy strolling amongst the rocks. I’ll spare you the photos. I’ll have to take that one off of the tour list when we have out of town guests.
This year we kept it small. I worked during the food preparation period so I’m stealing some photos from Jon. We prepared pulled pork & deep fried turkey with sides. Desert was grilled pineapple and croissant bread pudding topped with whiskey sauce. Everyone chipped in with appetizers and Cait tossed a nice spinach salad.
After lunch we ended up sitting by the water just talking and laughing when we realized Jon is prone to seizures when he stares into the sun without proper eye protection.
Before we knew it dinnertime came so we reheated lunch and threw one of those backyard ducks on the grill. Finally we kicked everyone out around 8:30PM. We had a great time thanks to everyone.
